postheadericon Troy John McCray - June 2010

When asked to describe his work, Troy turned very thoughtful and
threw out this collection of words:

textural
color
photos
macro
urban decay
random

From the Artist's Statement:

"I am an avid photographer and have amassed a collection of over 10,000 digital photographs since I acquired my first digital camera 12 years ago. I am fascinated by the overlooked, the randomness of urban decay, natural processes, and society’s often unknown influence on its surroundings. Capturing the crumbling Berlin Wall, erosion in an Icelandic cemetery, or surface texture on the streets of Glasgow; the images become abstract as they are presented. These photographs were taken over the years in Portland and on my travels to Iceland, Germany and Scotland."

So come and enjoy, learn, think, and most of all, appreciate.

In the realm where art decays, even in its "dying" new art is created, in this way we appreciate the original and the interpretation given by Troy John McCray in his vision.

Setting up the show is complex, and involves many decisions. Fortunately the most excellent curator Don Brown was on hand to lend his expertise!
