Dan Murphy-Hecht
“Covered in baby spit up, debris of food and the stench of feces…” describes Dan Murphy-Hecht’s reaction to the birth and experience of being a new father to twin girls nearly two years ago. His artwork is a visceral reaction that echoes the thoughts of many a new parent, twins or otherwise, who also feel “…like urban soldiers trained to keep our kids safe.”
In his dealing with the reality of family being several hundred miles away and his own personal struggle of fatherhood, Dan has chosen art as his outlet and feels his inspiration is both “street artist and war propaganda.” He creates pieces via his sketch book and then digitizes the images to create final images which are 11x17 and tuned via Photoshop.
Murphy-Hecht is originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, and has been formally trained in computer animation and multimedia. He currently resides in the Portland area with his wife and twin daughters.
First Thursday Opening is April 7th, from 6:30pm on, following the evening Kettlebell class. Light refreshments will be served.
